Condition: Very Good. Dust Jacket Condition: Good. Folio, hardcover, near fine in lightly edgeworn red pictorial dj. 305 pp., b/w & color illustrations; an official publication of the american museum of natural history in New York City. Each step of the archaeological history brought about a clearer picture of life as it was. The discoveries also had their impact on the times -- "Pompeian fever" swept 18th and 19th century Europe. This is also the story of the men who dominated the digs -- the initial probings of Prince d'Elbeuf, the adventures -- amorous and otherwise -- of the Hamiltons. Book.
