Paperback. First edition, in a custom-made clamshell portfolio. Fine paperback with a light bump to the heel in a leather and linen clamshell case with gilt titling to the spine. BOOKS SHIP THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY, WRAPPED IN PADDING, IN A BOX. The catalogue for an exhibition of ancient Andean art from the collection of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Olsen, held at the Krannert Art Museum, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Text by Alan R. Sawyer; drawings by Raymond Perlman; photographs by Wilbur Zehr and James Reiter. viii + 189 pages; more than 269 color and b&w illustrations, printed in collotype, + a map and chronological chart; 11.25 x 8.75 inches. Catalogue, bibliography, color keys, index. We acquired this copy from the estate of an employee of the printer, Meriden Gravure. Meriden is known to have had clamshell's made for books as promotional and sales pieces and one's we've had in the past were made by Arno Werner, the master bookbinder. We can not confirm that this one was made by Werner, but the quality of the binding and decorative elements suggest it may have come from his studio. Due to size and weight, international and expedited shipping will be more than quoted.
