About the Author:
John Freely is the author of Blue Guide Istanbul, Strolling through Istanbul, Istanbul: The Imperial City, Companion Guide to Istanbul, and dozens of other acclaimed titles on Turkey and Greece. A native New Yorker, Freely first came to Istanbul in 1960 as a teacher at Robert College and is now a member of the Boğaziçi (Bosphorus) University faculty.
