South-African born Lisa Swerling & Ralph Lazar began collaborating on Harold's Planet in London in 1996. Lisa, a graphic designer, studied at Oxford University, and Ralph, an investment banker, at the London School of Economics. They decided to work fulltime on the project, moving to a tiny island in the middle of the Indian Ocean where they spent a year writing and drawing from an isolated wooden hut overlooking the sea.
